Day 21:Catching exceptions too broadly

๐Ÿ Python Mistakes Everyone Makes ❌

Day 21: Catching Exceptions Too Broadly

Handling errors is important, but catching everything can hide real problems.

❌ The Mistake

try: result = 10 / x
except:
print("Something went wrong")

This catches all exceptions, including ones you didn’t expect.

❌ Why This Fails

  • Hides the real error

  • Makes debugging difficult

  • Can mask serious bugs

  • Swallows unexpected exceptions

✅ The Correct Way

try: result = 10 / x
except ZeroDivisionError:
print("Cannot divide by zero")

Catch only the exceptions you expect.

๐Ÿง  Simple Rule to Remember

✔ Catch specific exceptions
✔ Avoid bare except:
✔ Let unexpected errors fail loudly
