Python Coding challenge - Day 1248| What is the output of the following Python Code?

Code Explanation:

1️⃣ class A:
class A:

This creates a new class named A.

The class contains two special methods:

__new__() → creates the object
__init__() → initializes the object

2️⃣ def __new__(cls):
def __new__(cls):

__new__() is called first when A() is executed.

Its main job is to create and return a new object.

Here, cls refers to the class A.

3️⃣ Creating the object
obj = super().__new__(cls)

super() accesses the parent implementation.

Since A ultimately inherits from object, this calls:

object.__new__(A)

A new instance of A is created and stored in obj.

4️⃣ Assigning x = 5
obj.x = 5

The newly created object gets an attribute named x.

So internally:

obj.x → 5

5️⃣ Returning the object
return obj

__new__() returns the newly created A object.

Because the returned object is an instance of A, Python now proceeds to call __init__().

6️⃣ __init__() starts
def __init__(self):

Now Python initializes the object returned by __new__().

Here, self refers to the same object stored in a.

7️⃣ Updating x
self.x += 10

At this point:

self.x = 5

So:

self.x = 5 + 10
       = 15

Now the object contains:

x = 15

8️⃣ Creating the object
a = A()

This triggers the process:

A()
 ↓
__new__()
 ↓
Object created
 ↓
x = 5
 ↓
__init__()
 ↓
x = 15

9️⃣ Printing the value
print(a.x)

a.x is now 15.

Final Output
15
